The full statement from the DEM Party is as follows:
"We had a three-hour meeting with Mr. Öcalan in İmralı on August 28, 2025. Mr. Öcalan was in excellent health and high spirits.
During the meeting, he made a comprehensive assessment of the stages the Peace and Democratic Society process has undergone and the current situation. He stated that the problem we were experiencing was gangrenous enough to require specialized surgical intervention, and that they had managed the process with such meticulous care to bring it to this point. He added, "Our goal was to do everything in our power to bring this painful process to an end."
"DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY, PEACE AND INTEGRATION"He stated that democratic society, peace, and integration are the three key concepts of this process, and that results can only be achieved on this basis. He emphasized the need for a new phase in which steps are taken urgently on all dimensions.
Mr. Öcalan stated that his preference has always been for integration based on a democratic republic and a democratic society, and that understanding and embracing this strategic move would benefit all of us, all of Türkiye.
It is clear that the simplification or ignorance of this choice by some in the political and press circles has harmed this process. He also expressed once again his great belief in eternal friendship and peace between peoples on this occasion.
